VINEYARD
Work started in 2005 with the aim of establishing a modern vineyard in Hançalar neighborhood of Çal district of Denizli province. As a result of the work done, the first vineyards were planted in 2007. Çal is a plateau located at an altitude of approximately 850 meters, through which the Büyük Menderes River, named after the river god Meandros, passes.

It has clayey, loamy and calcareous soils where the temperature difference between day and night is quite high (average difference of 18-20 degrees). Kuzubağ vineyards are established in an area of approximately 500 decares. Kuzubağ, which has cultivated the vineyard with good agricultural practices since the day it was founded and has switched to organic viticulture for the past 2 years, obtains grapes from the vineyards with the principle of low yield by pruning and bunch thinning method.

The uprights used are wooden and the wires used are galvanized wires. Irrigation infrastructure has been established in the vineyard area. It is possible to irrigate the entire vineyard if necessary.

To give some technical information, considering the existing machines, the row spacing was chosen as 2.8 meters and the vineyard spacing as 1 meter. There are approximately 280 vineyards per decare. The rows are in the South-North direction and a high wall system has been established. The uprights used are wooden and the wires used are galvanized wires. Irrigation infrastructure has been established in the vineyard area. It is possible to irrigate the entire vineyard if necessary.

Vineyard saplings were imported from France and Italy, and only local species were supplied from Turkey. Special importance was given to Çal Karası, the grape of the region, and two different Çal Karası saplings, clone selections and trial productions of which were made at the Manisa Viticulture Research Center, were procured and a Çal Karası vineyard was established with a wall system for the first time in the region in an area of 8 decares. The grape varieties planted in Kuzubağ since 2007 are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Çal Karası, Kalecik Karası, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Acıkara, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Narince and Sultaniye.
